Mattias Rönngren started fourth last in the first run as number 53 - and went all the way to the top 30. He was 2.02 seconds behind the Frenchman Mathieu Faivre who led after the first run.

He was first out in the second run and managed to keep the ride together all the way to the finish.

Rönngren climbed nine places and finished in a nice 21st place and thus gets world cup points from today's giant slalom.

Norwegian victory

Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen won, who was only seventh after the first run.

When he finished in the second run, he took over the lead with 58 hundredths.

That would prove to be enough all the way.

Second came the Swiss Marco Odermatt before Manuel Feller from Austria who took third place.

They were 31 and 37 hundredths behind Kristoffersen in goal respectively.
