Lewandowski scores and leads Bayern to end Freiburg's unbeaten record

Robert Lewandowski scored his 60th goal in 2021 to lead defending champions Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory at home to Freiburg on Saturday and end their opponents' unbeaten record in the German Football League this season.

Leroy Sane and Niklas Zule missed two early chances for Bayern, who took the lead in the 30th minute through Leon Goretzka after a pass from Thomas Muller when Freiburg lost the ball at the edge of the penalty area.

The visiting team retreated to the defense in the second half and absorbed the pressure of Bayern, although the net was almost shaken for the second time, but Goretzka's low shot bounced off the post after a pass from Sani.

Freiburg denied Goretzka another chance, but Lewandowski added the second goal 15 minutes from the end from close range after a solo effort by Alfonso Davies on the left side.

Yannick Haberer reduced the difference for Freiburg in the third minute of stoppage time, but Bayern held on to win.

Bayern leads the competition with 28 points from 11 matches, four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who will be a guest at Rasen Ball Sport Leipzig later in the day.

Freiburg is in third place with 22 points.
