Russia won the first edition of the Billie Jean King Cup by beating Switzerland in the final by two wins to zero on Saturday, November 6 in Prague, without having to play a decisive double.

In the first single of this final, the Russian Daria Kasatkina, 28th in the world, easily defeated the Swiss Jil Teichmann (39th), in two sets 6-2, 6-4 and less than an hour and twenty minutes.

The second single was much closer between Liudmila Samsonova (40th in the world) and Belinda Bencic (17th) who took the first set 6-3.

The Russian then replied with the same score in the second, then made the entry break to lead 2-0 and concluded at 6-4 in the third, from her first match point, after 2:22 of Game. 

The Billie Jean King Cup succeeds the Fed Cup by teams, a previous competition between nations whose final edition took place in 2019, won by France.

In the semi-finals on Friday, Russia knocked out the United States 2-1 and Switzerland edged Australia 2-0.
