The third halfpipe final of the Snowboarding World Cup was held in Switzerland, and 19-year-old Mitsuki Ono won the women's race for the first time this season.

Snowboarding halfpipe is an event in which participants compete on the height and difficulty of aerial jumps while sliding down a half-cylindrical course.

The third match of this season was the men's and women's finals held on the 20th in Laax, Switzerland, with the women's 19-year-old Ono, who won the overall championship at last season's World Cup, advancing to the eight-person final.

Among them, Ono showed a high air in the first run and was the only one to score in the 80s, scoring 81.75, taking his first victory of the season.

This is Ono's fourth World Cup win in total, and his second consecutive podium finish this season.

Additionally, 22-year-old Ruki Tomita scored 60.50 in the first race and placed third, marking her first podium finish this season.

On the other hand, in the men's category, Ryuka Hirano placed 3rd with a high score of 90.00, and Ayumu Hirano, who won the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, placed 10th.

Men's athlete Kimata came in 2nd place in slopestyle.

In addition, the men's and women's slopestyle finals were held ahead of the season's opening race.

In slopestyle, participants compete on a course with obstacles such as rails and jumping platforms to see how difficult and complete their techniques are.

In the men's category, 21-year-old Kimata, who won a silver medal in this event at the World Championships in February 2023, becoming the first Japanese male to win the medal, advanced to the final in a field of 12.

In the first run, he was unable to improve his score and finished in 4th place, but in the second run, he skied through high airs and obstacles without making any mistakes, scoring a high score of 85.31 and finishing in 2nd place.

This is the first time in four seasons that Kimata has stood on the podium in this event at the World Cup.

On the women's side, Shinkan Murase, who won the bronze medal in big air at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, advanced to the eight-person final, but was unable to improve her score and finished fifth with a score of 59.21.
