Sweden was on the full pot ahead of tonight's World Cup qualifier.

But in the away meeting with Greece, they went on a real blunder in the minutes.

After Mattias Svanberg's post hit in the second minute, it was also Greece who were the more enterprising team in the first half.

The great opportunity in the first half was given when Victor Nilsson Lindelöf fell behind, slipped and saw Robin Olsen stand for a giant save on Vangelis Pavlidi's chance.

Sweden's first shot on goal was delayed until the final minutes before the break - and again it was Mattias Svanberg who was involved.

- We have not seen much of the courage we saw against Spain.

It feels a little anxious and the pace has been far too slow, says SVT's expert Daniel Nannskog about the first half.

Replicated immediately

Despite a lively blue-yellow start after the break, it was Greece who, after a nice roll-up, put 1-0 through captain Anastasios Bakasetas.

A quarter of an hour later, the Greeks extended after a several-minute VAR review for potential offside, but the goal remained.

Blue-yellow replicated lightning fast when Robin Quasion took advantage of the return after Emil Forsberg's shot.

In extra time, Sweden pressed for an equalizer, and the closest came Forsberg with a shot that was blocked just in front of the goal line.

Drops at the top

The points loss was Sweden's first in the World Cup qualifiers and now they are four points behind Spain, who have two games more played.

The next national team gathering will take place in October.

Then double home matches await in the form of Kosovo (October 9) and Greece (October 12).
