FIFA postpones the FIFA U-17 and 20 World Cup until 2023

FIFA has postponed the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia and the U-17 World Cup in Peru, after they were expected next year, until 2023 due to the emerging corona virus.

“The Covid-19 epidemic continues to pose challenges for hosting international sporting events, especially with regard to restricting international travel,” FIFA said in a statement on its website.

"The global situation has failed to adapt and reach a level sufficient to meet the challenges associated with hosting the two tournaments, including the feasibility of the relevant qualification tracks," he added.

The statement pointed out that the international organization looks forward to working with the two host countries "to organize two successful tournaments" in 2023.
