At previous championships, with 24 participating countries, Uefa has had eight places.
The remaining 21 places are distributed as follows: Six to the Asian Football Association (including the host country Australia), four to the African Football Association, four to the North and Central American Football Association, three to the South American Football Association, while the host country New Zealand gets the only place in Oceania.
The last three places are given to the group winners in a rematch in which a total of ten nations from the various federations participate.
The championship will be played in July and August 2023.
