Chinese swimmer Sun Yang had his eight-year doping ban lifted on Wednesday.

The reason was that the chairman of the Cas panel who ruled in the case was considered disqualified after Yang's lawyers presented several tweets in which the chairman, Franco Frattini, expressed anti-Chinese and used racist accusations against the Chinese.

Sun Yang is thus free to compete until a new verdict is handed down, something that upsets the chairman of the Swedish Sports Confederation's doping commission, Åke Andrén-Sandberg.

"We are very concerned"

"In Swedish anti-doping, we are very concerned about the verdict, because it takes focus from the work against doping and instead focuses on the legal processes," he writes in a statement and continues:

The Chinese swimmer has contributed to the destruction of his doping test by an aide smashing the ampoule with the doping test with a hammer so that the doping test can never be analyzed.

This is obviously not allowed and should render a penalty against the doping rules ".

The process will be repeated

"Now the Swiss court has rejected Cas's ruling because a judge pronounced anti-Chinese in another context.

This will in all probability mean that the whole process will be repeated - whoever prevents doping controls cannot remain unpunished - at a significant cost ".

Sun Yang was convicted in February this year of violating the sport's doping rules after he refused to give up blood and urine samples during an unannounced home visit from Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency).

Exactly when the negotiations against Sun Yang will resume is still unclear, but according to Cas, it will take place "immediately".
