Biden considered that the financing law he approved keeps the government running and strengthens the economy and national security (French)

The White House said in a statement that US President Joe Biden approved a $1.2 trillion budget draft yesterday, Saturday, into law, which maintains the funding of the US federal government during the financial world that began on the first of last October and will continue until the end of next September. To avoid a partial government shutdown, hours after the project was approved by Congress.

“The bipartisan funding bill I signed keeps the government running, invests in the American people, and strengthens our economy and national security,” Biden said in the statement.

Congress approved the draft budget after a vote in the Senate, and in theory the deadline for the shutdown ended at midnight local time, but in practice government operations did not stop.

The White House instructed the authorities to continue their operations while the budget bill was being passed.

The $1.2 trillion package finances a large portion of US government operations, and Biden said, “This agreement represents a compromise, which means that neither party got everything they wanted.”

Biden also urged Congress to pass new aid to Ukraine and an immigration bill to protect the border, and said, "It's time to get this done."

The budget package includes money for defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Labor, and others, but it does not include more aid that Kiev needs. There is a legislative package for Ukraine that is currently stuck in the House of Representatives, and Republicans in the House of Representatives are so far obstructing aid to Ukraine.

For several months, the United States has stumbled in the final adoption of the budget due to partisan differences between the camp of Democratic President Joe Biden and some Republicans who support adopting strictness in dealing with the budget.

The government shutdown in the United States means closing some federal services and offices, and millions of US government employees will not receive their salaries, in addition to freezing some aid.

The last time there was a partial federal government shutdown was during Donald Trump's presidency, from December 22, 2018, to January 25, 2019.
