It was in April 2018 that the Austrian police conducted a raid on the International Biathlon Association's (IBU) office in Salzburg. The suspicions were that then-President Anders Besseberg of Norway and Secretary-General Nicole Resch of Germany had received around SEK 2.5 million to darken positive Russian doping tests.

- Eco-Crime has been asked to take over the investigation by Anders Besseberg from Austrian authorities. The investigation concerns serious corruption, state prosecutor Trude Stanghelle told TV2.

Besseberg does not want to comment on TV2, but has always rejected the allegations.

- I think I did nothing wrong. That's why I'm not afraid, Besseberg told NTB two years ago.

In addition to Besseberg and Resch, ten people are suspected of what the police call doping fraud.
