The Syrian Football Association authorized Sunday to allow clubs to reduce the salaries of their contractors, including players and coaches, by up to 50 percent, in light of the financial consequences of the emerging Corona virus.

The Federation published on its Facebook page a message addressed to the sub-committees in the governorates, saying, "The Syrian Arab Football Federation decided to agree to reduce the monthly compensation for all contractors in the clubs up to 50% from the beginning of April 2020 until the date of the return of training and the resumption of the league."

The Federation justified this step by "the urgent circumstances that our country is going through" in light of the epidemic "Covid-19", which led to "the complete suspension of football activity, which negatively affected the financial imports of the clubs."

And it left the federation for club departments to "fix the discount rates according to the financial tiers of the contractors", provided that they do not exceed half of the basic contractual value.

The sports authorities in Syria announced that they will stop all activities in various competitions since the middle of last March until an initial date, which is the end of the month of Ramadan (late May), as part of a series of measures to combat the spread of the virus.
