This Monday morning, we're talking about a zero waste football club.

Union Sportive Aigrefeuille Football is the first sports club to integrate the “zero waste club” approach in Charente Maritime.

More precisely, we are talking about Aigrefeuille-d'Aunis, a town located in the Charente-Maritime department, not far from La Rochelle.

420 graduates, including 125 girls.

The Cyclad Mixed Union and the Aigrefeuille Football Sports Union signed a partnership agreement a few days ago called “Zero Waste Club”.

If there are other examples of clubs in Puy de Dome, or

What is a zero waste football club?

Under the partnership contract, US Aigrefeuille Football is committed to reducing waste and raising awareness among young people, coaches and managers of this issue.

And we're not talking about sorting your waste here, but about reducing it.

To help all these beautiful people Cyclad has put in place a charter which applies to the entire site inside and outside, on a daily basis and during club events and at all levels.

What concrete actions have been implemented?

Cyclad mentions five main actions:

Involve leaders, volunteers, partners and members, in short, almost everyone.

Eliminate disposable plastic or cardboard tableware.

This means that during matches and other events, no cans, everything is served by the glass.

Encourage the use of water bottles

Avoid packaging, sort irreducible waste and bio-waste, basically, there are composters at the stadium.

Make second-hand equipment accessible

Adapt its communication

The club has even set up a second-hand store to recycle young footballers' clothes.

This also applies to shoes that can be found second-hand.

And for events and tournaments, there are wooden medals and wooden trophies.

It seems that the children love it.

Were these measures well accepted?

We will say that total and complete mobilization took time.

A sports club is made for training and playing sports.

Eco-responsible actions are not really the first concern.

However, this commitment is gaining ground as at the Saint Eloy les Mines club near Montluçon.

Here too, we advocate zero waste, from the players to the coach.
