On February 19, the Spanish football club Valencia traveled to Milan for the eighth final against Atalanta in the Champions League (Atalanta could not use his home arena).

Both Milan and Atalanta's hometown of Bergamo have been hit extremely hard by the coronavirus outbreak.

More than a third have fallen ill

On March 10, Valencia received Atalanta for the return meeting at home at Mestalla arena and the match was played in front of empty stands. The evening ended with a loss for the home team: 4-3 after the show by Atalanta's Slovenian star Josip Ilic. The overall result was 8-4 in favor of the Italians.

As the salt in the wounds, the corona virus has now infected more than a third of the Spanish team, including staff. This is announced in a press release.

"All cases are mild and the individuals are isolated in their homes with medical supervision," Valencia writes.

Strict measures had been introduced - did not help

Already on Sunday, the message came that five people had fallen ill, now according to media data there must be nine more cases.

"Although stringent measures were put in place before the match against Atalanta in Milan, a high-risk area according to Italian authorities, recent tests show that the exposure was still sufficient for 35 percent to be infected," the club states.
