The player had

"many damaged ligament structures"

, Dr López said in an interview with the Valencian club's media, after the operation Diakhaby underwent in the French city of Lyon.

“It is a laborious surgical operation, but the truth is that it was a success, a multiligament reconstruction was carried out and we are very happy with its evolution

,” added the head of Valencia's medical services.

Checks before a rehabilitation process

Dikhaby, 27, was seriously injured last Saturday in the 89th minute of the championship match against Real Madrid (2-2), when French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni fell on him.

After suffering one of the most serious injuries for a footballer, he spent 48 hours under observation in a Valencia hospital.

“The decision was made to operate on him in Lyon and through Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, because he is a specialist with a great reputation in this type of injury and we considered him to be the right one

,

Lopez explained.

According to the Valencian doctor, Diakhaby will remain in Lyon for another 15 days, where

“he will undergo checks and then begin a rehabilitation process”

.

Always be optimistic

“At six weeks, a possible arthroscopy is planned to try to release possible adhesions and the recovery process will begin very little by little, with physiotherapy, a stretcher... and the process will progress

,” added López.

“The current situation is to look to the future and always be optimistic.

For this long process that awaits us, the player's state of mind is very important

,” considered the doctor.

According to the Spanish press, the player will have to stay away from the playing fields for at least 10 months.

Trained in Lyon, Diakhaby arrived in Valencia in 2018 for 15 million euros ($16.25 million at the current exchange rate).

He has played 177 games for the Spanish side, currently ninth in La Liga.
