Kansas City Chiefs young quarterback Patrick Mahomes was painted as the big star. But could the 24-year-old live up to his praise when he was in a Super Bowl final for the first time in his life?

The response came almost seven minutes before the end signal. With two accurate passes in just under four minutes, Mahomes was behind Travis Kelce and Damien Williams two touchdowns and Kansas City's turn to victory in this year's Super Bowl.

Suddenly, Kansas City had turned 10-20 to 24-20 and a stressed San Francisco could never rise. With a minute and a half left, Williams was able to run his second touchdown.

"Fight all the way"

- We never stopped believing that we could, that was crucial. No one hung their heads, we continued to believe in each other, says Mahomes, who crowned his second NFL season with also being named the most valuable player in the final.

- Everyone around us, all the leaders, they have the attitude that we should never give up, that we will fight all the way into the goal.

Mahomes had then made the final touchdown himself, half a minute before the end of the first period. Instead of finding a pass into San Francisco's goal area, he ran through the opposing defense himself.

The 49ers lost their grip

The Kansas City fans - and they were many and loud at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami - didn't have much to cheer about in the game's two middle periods and will probably fast-forward to the final seven minutes of the game and the team's classic turnaround.

San Francisco, which was hoping to repeat the previous generation's 49ers achievements when the team won the Super Bowl at the same arena in Miami both in 1989 and 1994, then had a grip on the game. But despite the fact that the team broke several of Mahome's passes and that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo at least glimpsed up to normal level, that was not enough.

Kansas City lost to Green Bay in the very first Super Bowl that was played, in 1967. Three years later, the team won its first title, against Minnesota, but since then the team's supporters have never experienced a final. Now a new title has finally arrived, and the city has already booked a big parade for the team on Wednesday.

Tribute to Kobe Bryant

Patrick Mahomes does not mind continuing to celebrate.

- I've dreamed of standing here since I was a kid. It's amazing, it really is, but it's great to be able to do this with these guys, and I just want to enjoy this, for a long time.

Ahead of the match, the deadly basketball legend Kobe Bryant was honored at Hard Rock Stadium. About half an hour before kickoff, players from both teams gathered on the 24-yard line for a quiet minute. 24 was Bryant's jersey number during the latter part of the basketball career.
