Several shots were fired this Wednesday in Kansas City during the parade for the
Chiefs' victory in the Super Bowl,
police in the city in the central United States reported.
"There were shots fired near Union Station," Kansas City police said on their X social media account. Authorities are trying to "determine the number of victims," they added.
"Two armed people" have been arrested for the shooting during a parade, police said.
Thousands of fans had taken to the streets this Wednesday to pay tribute to the
Chiefs,
brand new champions of the
NFL, the professional American football league, after winning
Super Bowl LVIII
last Sunday ,
in the victory parade that passed through the
streets of Kansas City, Missouri, and ended at Union Station,
located in the center of the city.
Last Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated
the
San Francisco 49ers
25-22 after overtime
in the duel for the NFL title, their second in a row; the third in the past five years and the fourth in its entire history.
