Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens has been named the most valuable player of the NFL season for the second time in his career. At the ceremony in Las Vegas three days before the Super Bowl, the quarterback was recognized for his outstanding performances that led the Ravens to the finals of the American Football Conference. In the semifinals on the way to the Super Bowl, the team was defeated by defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Jackson was voted MVP for the first time in 2019. He is only the ninth player since the inception of the Super Bowl to win multiple MVP awards. He joins a list with Peyton Manning (five), Aaron Rodgers (four), Tom Brady (three), Brett Favre (three), Patrick Mahomes (two), Joe Montana (two), Steve Young (two) and Kurt Warner (two) one.

Jackson received 49 of 50 first-place votes, with the only opposing vote received by Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. He led the Ravens to 13 wins in 16 games, passing for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns. He ran for 821 yards.

"I can't thank my offense enough for what they did," Jackson said. »I'm not out there to block, catch the ball and do everything. It's my team. It's a team thing for these awards." But he also said: "It's an honor to be here to accept the award, but I would rather be in the Super Bowl to accept this award," Jackson said.
