The home team got a taste start when Yevgeny Kuznetsov came free and put 1-0 up after 58 seconds of play. And after just under six minutes, the Capitals had already gone up a 2-0 lead.

When the match stood and weighed in the third period, Nicklas Bäckström stepped into the action seriously.

First he sent important 4-2 into powerplay with a wrist shot between the legs of goalie veteran Marc-André Fleury. He then determined the final result in an empty box with a half-shot shot.

- It was time to fire a shot in powerplay, it can't just be "Ovie" all the time. Although I think the other (in an empty cage) was more beautiful, Bäckström tells Sportbladet.

The goal was his fourth for the season and with a total of 15 points in 18 matches he is four in the Swedes' points, topped by Vancouver's Elias Pettersson.

The Capitals have now scored eleven games in a row, ten of which have ended with a win.

- We do all the little things right now and follow the plan that the coach has given us. Just keep on the beaten path and try to get better with each passing day. So far this has gone well, says Bäckström to nhl.com.
