In 1991, Johan Garpenlöv had already won two SM golds with Djurgården, when he took part in his first World Cup gold. In 1992 he won his second World Cup gold, just 24 years old. Then Garpenlöv did ten seasons in the NHL, before returning to Djurgården and taking the SM gold directly, in 2001.
Johan Garpenlöv has later been both Team Manager and Assistant Confederate for Three Kronor, and after the World Cup gold in 2017 and 2018 he is the only one to have won two World Cup gold in a row both as a player and a leader.
