The ministry stressed that such a decision of the Netherlands did not come as a surprise to Russia, since the Dutch judicial system no longer meets the standards of fair justice.

"The verdict of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands sets another dangerous precedent that undermines trust between museum communities," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry added that Scythian gold is part of the cultural heritage of Crimea.

Russia will not leave such decisions without a reaction, the department concluded.

On June 9, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands rejected the cassation appeal of the Crimean museums and decided to transfer the Scythian gold to Ukraine.
