Three people, including two students, were "seriously injured" on Friday as a result of an attack on a private school in the English county of Devon for which a 16-year-old boy is detained, as confirmed by British police.

In a statement, the police force of Devon and Cornwall (southwest of the country) revealed that they received a call around 01.00 in the morning (12.00 GMT) to report "a serious attack" occurred in a building of the facilities of the boarding school Blundell's School, in the town of Tiverton.

Police added in the note that the victims "had been assaulted and had suffered multiple serious injuries," for which "they have been taken to hospital for treatment."

"At this time it is believed that all parties involved are linked to the school," Devon Police Superintendent Antony Hart said.

The agent corroborated that a minor of 16 years is now being questioned in police stations "as a suspect of three counts of causing aggravated physical harm."

"This is a very traumatic incident for those involved and we will continue to work closely with the school to provide support to those affected," Hart said.

The superintendent also gave assurances that "there is no broader risk," adding that officers "are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter."

According to the BBC, parents of other pupils at the school were informed that it was "an isolated incident".

The Blundell School has an annual cost of 41,325 pounds (about 48,187 euros) in the case of students who take advantage of the boarding regime.
