The Civil Guard has arrested five people in the town of Los Villares (Jaén) accused of attacking relatives of the three young women who last week reported having been victims of a group sexual assault.
The detainees would have participated in the
altercations that, last Friday night, pitted the families of the victims against those of the five detainees
(one of them a minor) accused of the alleged group attack.

As stated this morning in Jaén by the Government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, those now detained
would have used knives in the altercations over the weekend
, which left
three people injured
, one of whom had to be hospitalized.
Pedro Fernández has indicated that an "important" security device
is maintained in Los Villares,
a town of barely 6,000 inhabitants where
tempers are high.
Last week, the Civil Guard arrested five young people, one of them a minor, between the ages of 14 and 18, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of group sexual assault against two minors, both 16 years old, in the early hours of Sunday. January 28 in an industrial estate in Los Villares (Jaén).
Added to these complaints is that of a third woman, of legal age, who identified some detainees for an attack a year ago.
The mayor of Los Villares, Estela Palacios, called
for "calm" and "respect"
among citizens in the face of the alleged cases of sexual abuse that occurred in the municipality.
