"We still have a shortage of dentists in the Public Dental Service in Dalarna, but compared to a year ago, things look significantly better," says Michaela Hedberg, Head of the Public Dental Service.

Last autumn, SVT Dalarna reported on a shortage of dentists in both the county and the rest of Sweden. The dentists who have now been recruited come from both Swedish and foreign dental schools.

Get to work with more treatments

The decision, which the Dental Care Board took a year ago, makes it possible to deviate from the order of priority that applied to treatments a dentist should make. Something that has made it easier to recruit.

"The job has been quite monotonous, for example that they have devoted themselves solely to emergency dental care or dental care for children and young people. But when you no longer need to go according to the order, you get to work with all types of treatments that you are trained for and do not lose competence.
