• Economy Sánchez's plan excludes quality housing in the hands of Sareb: Where do the promised 50,000 houses come from?
  • Announcement The PP proposes to endorse 15% of the purchase of the first home for young people, the rent deposit and measures against squatters

Genoa kept its housing plan secret like a treasure and on Tuesday released it like a missile. The Popular Party seeks to overshadow the progress and announcements of the Executive by proposing a state pact for housing that unifies the efforts of the Administration at all levels. Alberto Núñez Feijóo said on Tuesday that if he reaches the Government he will expand the young rental bonus and increase the assignments of endowment land of municipalities and autonomies, where the rental price will fall by 40% so that young people and middle-income families can access housing.

The leader of the opposition, from the heights of a rooftop in the center of Madrid, urged the PSOE and the rest of the parties to design and activate a State Pact for Housing in response to the announcements made by the Executive of Pedro Sánchez last weekend to activate up to 50,000 public housing at affordable prices. Faced with these "erratic, insufficient and inefficient" measures that corroborate that the Government "has been without housing policies for five years," Feijóo outlined his program, which he defined as "serious and rigorous State policies."

"I'm not going to do demagoguery. There are no easy solutions to complex problems," reflected Feijóo, who advanced that he will also create an aid of 1,000 euros for emancipation to "pay the objective expenses for buying or renting" a house. He also promised, as detailed on Monday the PP, which will guarantee 15% of the total price of the first home, as well as the deposit required for the start of a rental.

Regarding the main proposal, the extension of the assignments of public land to build housing and transfer it with an assessed rental price 40% lower than the market price, it is a measure that some popular autonomies, such as Madrid, has already put into operation.

The objective of the plan, said Feijóo, is to reduce the economic pressure suffered by families and young people to pay the rent, which in many cases represents an expense of 70% of monthly income, and thus have more facilities to access the purchase of a home. According to the data handled by the PP, the rent is at historical highs in thirteen autonomies, at the same time that the age of emancipation in our country is close to 30 years, far behind the rest of the OECD countries.

In terms of anti-squatting, Feijóo promised a greater crackdown from the State for those who carry out this illegal practice: "We will guarantee the eviction of illegal squats within 24 hours. We will toughen the penalties and provide more resources to courts and security forces to make the house available to the owner." "If your income is vulnerable, we will help you," Feijóo said of the squatters. "But you can't do illegal acts without it having any kind of repercussion."

In the eyes of the opposition leader, the powerful announcement made by Sánchez this weekend in terms of housing is a smokescreen with which to cover the absence of the socialist regional presidents in the intermunicipal held in Valencia. "It doesn't strain," Feijóo said.

- Guarantee the eviction of squatters within 24 hours.

- Modify the law to toughen penalties and provide more resources to the Security Forces and Bodies and the Courts to replace the owner's home.
