As the Spring Festival approaches, more and more people are embarking on the journey back home. Among them, many people choose to rent cars and drive back home, which has also driven the popularity of the car rental market.

Mr. Ding, who lives in Hongkou, Shanghai, was packing his luggage with his family. Mr. Ding told reporters that compared with public transportation, renting a car is more convenient. He planned to rent a car to return home during the Chinese New Year this year, and he booked a 7-seater business car early.

Shanghai consumer Ding Wenbin: I am ready to go home as the Spring Festival approaches, but train tickets are hard to get. I rented a 7-seater car. There are many people at home, so it is more convenient to visit relatives and friends.

In a car rental store at Shanghai Railway Station, there is an endless stream of customers coming to rent cars, most of whom are renting cars to return home. During peak periods, customers come to pick up cars every few minutes.

Wei Yong, a consumer in Shanghai: I am from Jiangxi. I have a holiday tomorrow. The three of us will rent a car to go back together. The total cost for nine days is about 2,700 yuan, which is very cost-effective.

The reporter visited many car rental stores and learned that bookings at major car rental stores in Shanghai are very hot, and some models are “hard to find”. A store manager of a car rental company said that during the Spring Festival, orders for family travel increased significantly.

Shen Jiahui, manager of the Shanghai Railway Station store of a car rental company: The store has 18 7-seater business cars. Prices during the Spring Festival increased by about 10% compared to last year. Although the price has increased, the booking rate is still relatively high.

Data shows that during the Spring Festival this year, the number of car rental orders more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Among them, new energy vehicle bookings increased five times year-on-year; car rental orders for those born after 1995 accounted for more than 40%, a year-on-year increase of 80%.
