  • Galicia The PP sweeps and Sánchez leads the PSOE to disaster

  • Politics Alarm in the PSOE due to the internal battle of the territorial leadership: "The party is a piece of land"

First face to face in Congress between the President of the Government and the leader of the opposition after the defeat of the socialists in the Galician elections. Alberto Núñez Feijóo, firmly consolidated in his party and with the clear endorsement of the first open polls after

23-J

, has not hesitated to assert his victory against Pedro Sánchez.

The popular, received with applause from his bench at the entrance to the Chamber, opened the session without hesitation. "Will it be a new Marlaska scandal? Will it be a new unknown subsidy financed with public debt? Will it be a new version of the amnesty? What will he invent today to explain what happened in Galicia? Will he give explanations for what happened over there?".

Sánchez has ironically agreed with him, saying that Galicia has been a "

plebiscite

." He congratulated Feijóo on his victory but then reminded him, deploying the argument that the PSOE has drawn up for these days, that he admitted before sixteen journalists that he is in favor of reconciliation with the independence movement and that he valued the convenience of an amnesty and of pardons for the leaders of the process. "You would have approved that and whatever it would have taken. You should have the courage to explain to the Spanish people what you say in private to journalists," he snapped.

And Feijóo, who expected the reply, regretted that Sánchez's congratulations came "after fifteen days of insults and insidiousness." Feijóo has accused the President of the Government of lying and beating him in this area "by a landslide."

"Here I am standing," he insisted, making a dent in the idea of the Galician plebiscite. "The result was 40 to nine." And then he was embarrassed by the fact that no one from the Government went to Barbate to show their face. "To those who are against the Civil Guard, everything; to the Civil Guard, nothing" and even accusing the protesting farmers of being "fascists."

Sánchez, in turn, has reproached him for launching "lie after lie", and has brought up the times in which the PP has voted against social measures, citing the increase in pensions and the SMI. "The only truth about Feijóo," he has settled, "is that everything about you is a lie."
