Senior EU chief Wim Fransen was reportedly shot after being missing since Sunday evening.

Fransen is from Belgium but works in Sudan responsible for humanitarian aid on behalf of the EU. According to four anonymous sources to the New York Times, he was found on Tuesday by his colleagues with gunshot wounds. The EU chief is being treated in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, the newspaper writes.
