Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in turn, said that the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces is preparing its decisions in connection with the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the offensive.

In September, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Crimea was an integral part of Russia and claims to Russian territory would receive a proper response.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents voted for reunification with Russia.
