The Michael Althen Prize for Criticism, which the FAZ donated to commemorate its deceased film critic and feuilleton editor, goes this year to Adam Soboczynski, head of literature at Die Zeit.

It is a review of Michel Houellebecq's novel Annihilation, entitled How Beautifully Dies the Occident - with some of the jurors emphasizing that they dislike Houellebecq and will continue to dislike him;

that it was Soboczynski's text alone that convinced her.

The jury consists of the actress Claudia Michelsen, the writer Daniel Kehlmann and the two authors and film directors Dominik Graf and Tom Tykwer;

So artists who are otherwise criticized criticize the critics here.

For two years, due to the epidemic, the award winners could only be celebrated in the newspaper.
