A 98-year-old woman died and 29 people were rescued after a violent fire which partially destroyed a six-storey building in Essey-lès-Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle) on Saturday, we learned from the firefighters.

“Evacuated from his apartment in cardio-respiratory arrest, the victim died after his care and medicalization by the SMUR”, specified the firefighters, about the nonagenarian.

The other residents, inconvenienced by the fumes, were evacuated with the help of the firefighters.

Their condition did not require hospital treatment.
