A proposal by Chinese deputies aimed at completely ridding China of mosquitoes made the buzz this Wednesday, September 14 on Chinese networks.

And the proposal was ultimately rejected by the National Health Commission.

Lots of buzz, and even “bzzz”, for nothing.

Because this proposal from the National People's Assembly is technically not feasible, says the National Health Commission which, in its statement, considers that "

research on innovative techniques for the fight against mosquitoes remains relatively weak

 ".

However, it is indeed

a "complete eradication"

of mosquitoes that the deputies of the 5,749th session of the 13th National People's Congress proposed.

They wanted a patriotic health campaign aimed at comprehensively improving the living environment, by drastically reducing the density of mosquitoes, by means of all-out elimination.

A proposal that seems slightly crazy, but the ministries are required to respond to the proposals when they are signed by more than 30 deputies,

recalls the

South China Morning Post

.

It was therefore rejected and state media, such as the

People's Daily,

reported on this rejection.

The study and monitoring of pathogens carried by Culicidae is one of the national research priorities.

But, this time, the subject made Internet users jump, knowing that tens of millions of them are still confined today due to health policy.

“Zero Covid” or “zero mosquitoes”?

"

Please get rid of Omicron, before we think about killing the bugs

 ," the comments read.
