Exclusive interview with CCTV reporter丨Hungarian Foreign Minister: China’s economic growth is good news for the world

Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto recently accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from CCTV in New York.

When talking about the Chinese economy, Szijjarto said that the continued growth of the Chinese economy is good news for the global economy.

CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi:

China’s GDP grew by 5.2% last year.

What do you think of this data?

Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto:

This is good news, not only good news for China, but also good news for Hungary.

China is our second largest source of imports, and Chinese investment is also playing an increasingly important role in our national economy.

It has made great contributions to the development of our automobile industry.

Some voices believe that the entry of Chinese electric vehicles into the market will cause damage to other countries' markets.

Szijjarto said he did not agree with this statement.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto:

First of all, we believe that global economic integration is very important, which must be based on competition, and we also believe that competition is a good thing; second, I think this is not a zero-sum game.

Because I have seen that Germany, as the backbone of the European economy, has benefited greatly from the success of its automobile company transformation strategy by Chinese companies. Many Chinese suppliers provide truly critical equipment and applications for German automobiles.

For example, Chinese companies are building two large electric vehicle battery factories in Hungary, and they are supplying the largest German car companies in and through Hungary, so what I see is that this is not a zero-sum game; Interdependence.

CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi:

What are your expectations for the economic cooperation between China and Hungary?

Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto:

We regard the economic cooperation between Hungary and China as a very important pillar of our country’s economic growth.

Our economic cooperation has always been based on mutual respect, and I hope this cooperation will continue in the future.
