In London, Queen Elizabeth II was mourned by thousands of people who flocked to Buckingham Palace to lay flowers and sing the national anthem.

The news that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away came from the British court at 19.30 Swedish time, and more and more people have made it to Buckingham Palace during the evening.

Katrin Marcal, DN journalist who has lived in London for many years, is on site outside Buckingham Palace and tells SVT's Aktuellt that people arrive in a calm but fighting stream.

- It's a sad atmosphere.

London is not completely still, but more still than the city usually does on a normal Thursday night.

It is in many ways a country in shock, says Katrin Marcal in Aktuellt.
