Tomorrow, Tuesday, a Russian-Iranian-Turkish summit will be held in Tehran to discuss several files, foremost of which is the Ukrainian war and the military operation that Ankara intends to launch in northern Syria, while Washington has expressed concern about Moscow's pursuit of Iranian drones.

Tehran preempted the summit by assuring that the leaders participating in it would discuss how to reach political settlements for the region's crises and the issue of food security.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian Ibrahim Raisi and Russian Vladimir Putin will attend the seventh trilateral summit of the Astana process, to discuss the current developments in Syria.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the upcoming meetings between the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey will give an impetus to strengthening relations and developing economic cooperation, focusing on regional security, in addition to ensuring food security.

For his part, the Kremlin spokesman said that he hopes that agreements will be signed with the Iranian side that include comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.

As for Ankara, it revealed that Istanbul will host a meeting next week to discuss the technical details of how to transport grain from Ukraine.

While Russia is waging war on Ukraine, Turkey also wants to launch a military operation in northern Syria against areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, of which Kurdish fighters form its backbone.

On the other hand, the coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said that Washington is concerned about Iran and Russia's cooperation in the sale of drones that Moscow could use in the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Kirby described Russia's resort to Iran to obtain drones as an indication of how isolated the two countries are.

The US official added that Iran refuses to condemn what he described as Russia's unjustified aggression against Ukraine, and that it is ready to help Moscow in this war.

Kirby stressed that the US administration will work to continuously ensure that it provides Ukraine with security assistance to better defend itself.

The tripartite meeting comes days after US President Joe Biden's tour of the Middle East, where he visited Israel and occupied Palestine, in addition to Saudi Arabia, where he met the leaders of the Arab Gulf states, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq.
