“As my Lithuanian colleague assured, Lithuania did not accept any unilateral national restrictions, but only implemented EU sanctions,” RIA Novosti quoted Borrell as saying.

He also stated that the Lithuanian authorities requested clarifications from the European Commission on this issue and received them.

Borrell said that the EU will still check the legal aspects of these measures to "ensure that all rules are fully observed."

In addition, he claims that the transit of passengers and goods not covered by sanctions continues.

On June 20, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that Lithuania immediately lift the restrictions imposed on the rail transit of part of the cargo to the Kaliningrad region, adding that otherwise the Russian side reserves the right to act to protect its national interests.
