His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, and head of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, stressed that the UAE's initiatives enhance the humanitarian and development efforts of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent around the world.
His Highness said that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him", is one of the biggest supporters and supporters of the international movement, and one of the main donors to its components.
His Highness added: "The country has become a regional center for support, catering and logistical services in the field of emergency humanitarian relief, and a permanent headquarters for many international humanitarian organizations that have found in the UAE the appropriate place to manage their relief operations in the neighboring regions, thanks to the directives and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan called for strengthening aspects of solidarity with the humanitarian issues that haunt many peoples of the world, and his Highness appealed to the international community and its humanitarian organizations to make more efforts to develop the most fragile societies and work together to ward off risks to millions of people around the world, as a result of health crises and the repercussions of Conflicts, wars, climate change, global economic crisis, food and medicine shortages, water scarcity, widespread poverty and hunger, and the spread of diseases and epidemics.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that dedicating an international day to the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent represents a good opportunity to root the dialogue and discussion on the fundamental issues of concern to the movement, especially as the world is witnessing changing conditions, which requires reconsidering the concepts of partnership, coordinating the efforts of the movement and developing a strategy.
