Due to the rapid spread of Omicron, a mutant virus of COVID-19, the number of new corona19 confirmed cases in major European countries recorded the highest ever.



The number of new confirmed cases in France was 179,807, an increase of about 75,000 from the previous record of 104,611 on the 25th.



There were also 129,471 new confirmed cases in the UK, replacing the record high of 122,186 on the 24th in four days.



There were 18 deaths per day, and 1,171 patients were hospitalized due to COVID-19 as of the 20th.



Italy's health authorities also said that the number of new cases per day reached 78,313, a record high.



This surpassed the 54,761 people on the 25th, which is Christmas Day, by more than 20,000.



The confirmation rate, which is the ratio of the number of confirmed cases to the number of tests, was 7.6%, and the number of new deaths reached 202, exceeding 200 for the first time in seven months since May.
