- We have followed all guidelines set by the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

This is what workplace and safety representative Camilla Lundberg at the bus company Transdev says.

Corona protection

According to her, the bus company and Region Sörmland have worked together to ensure that a functioning protective barrier made of polycarbonate, a very durable plastic, will protect the drivers from the coronavirus.

The device has been tested before it is now introduced in all Eskilstuna buses.

Region Sörmland believes that the opening of the doors also makes it possible to buy a ticket directly from the driver via credit card again - and that it will be less intrusive on the buses.

Threats and violence

Camilla Lundberg also sees another advantage: that the barrier protects against threats and violence.

Something that Bengt Karlsson, business manager at Transdev agrees with.

- It will be a good side effect of this.

Polycarbonate is very durable, he says.

In the clip, Camilla Lundberg and several other bus drivers in Eskilstuna reason about safety and how it feels to open the front doors again.
