The deputy of the PP Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo has appeared this Monday before the Congress of Deputies to express her discrepancy with her "dismissal" as parliamentary spokesperson for the party, decided by Pablo Casado . Álvarez de Toledo believes that her dismissal is "detrimental to the PP and the cause we defend", that the reasons given to her by the PP leader seem "unfortunate" and that she has been condemned for maintaining her independence.

Álvarez de Toledo has not yet decided if he will leave the seat and will communicate his decision in the coming days. In his appearance he has been very harsh with the PP and its leader, whom he has addressed as "Mr. Casado." As she explained, this Monday the president of the party summoned her at the headquarters in Genoa and in a two-hour conversation gave her his reasons for dismissing her and replacing her with Cuca Gamarra. According to his version, the reasons are three: to maintain his own profile with "heterodox" interventions, his position on certain issues such as Budgets or the renewal of the Judiciary, and the culture war.

"Casado believes that my conception of freedom is incompatible with his authority," said the popular deputy . "Her decision is the culmination of an expression, which is that Cayetana goes on her own, which is a loose verse. I have said heterodox, surprising things, but I have never said them to the detriment of Casado or the Spanish center-right

In his opinion, his dismissal is the result of a conception of politics "anchored in the past", which wants "victories from before" and does not understand that "Spain has changed".

In this sense, he has defended the "cultural war", something that "Casado is not interested in": "anti-victimism feminism", historical memory, the dictatorship and the Civil War as political arguments ...

He has finally accused his detractors of wanting to "compromise with nationalism" and has defended that "the PP must broaden its bases."
