The Naples club announced Monday the postponement of the resumption of training, a time planned for Wednesday, while Italy is badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

"SSC Napoli announces that sports activities are suspended until a date to be determined," the club said in a statement.

"The resumption of training will be determined according to the evolution of the health emergency linked to the Covid-19", continues Napoli.

Naples, which occupies 6th place in Serie A, originally planned to resume training on Wednesday.

Lazio Rome, currently 2nd in the championship, had also initially planned to resume on Monday, but the club of the capital announced Sunday in a statement that the return to training was finally "postponed to a date yet to be defined".

Likewise, Cagliari, who was to resume Monday, also postponed the return to collective work.

In Italy, where more than 6,000 people died from the Covid-19, the sport has been stopped since March 9, with a suspension of all competitions currently scheduled until April 3.
