At three o'clock this Sunday afternoon, the cruise ship Costa Luminosa has docked in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife after Foreign Health has authorized said operation for emergency reasons.

Order PCM / 216/2020 of March 12 establishes the prohibition of disembarkation of cruise ship passengers past 00:00 hours today, Sunday the 15th, but also establishes that the Ministry of Health may exceptionally lift prohibitions on ships, which must be authorized.

The reason why the Costa Cruises ship has been docked is that two people with serious respiratory problems were traveling on board, although a third was evacuated during the afternoon. Two of the three cruise passengers have been transferred to the Quirón Clinic and the other to the Parque Clinic, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In addition to the three affected, three other people have also been evacuated, their partners.

In addition, berthing has been used to supply medicines. No other passenger or crew member is authorized to disembark.

On board the cruise 1,427 tourists and 879 crew members travel. The ship left Brazil and on its journey through the Caribbean has registered a deceased by Covid-19, in the Cayman Islands, a 68-year-old Italian tourist, and two positive for coronavirus that landed in Puerto Rico, according to The Miami Herald. The cruise ship has traveled to Tenerife after being docked in Jamaica. In the Tenerife port it will stop only a few hours and tonight it will set sail for Marseille , culminating, predictably, in the port of Genoa, in Italy.

All the necessary sanitary control measures are adopted between the Foreign Health, the Maritime Authority, the Port Authority and the Consignee.
