To mark the fourth anniversary of the outbreak of the new coronavirus on the cruise ship Diamond Princess, passengers from the time gathered at the Yokohama wharf where the ship was docked to commemorate those who died. I mourned.

After the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" entered Yokohama Port on the 2nd and 3rd four years ago, infections among passengers and crew were revealed one after another, and 712 of the 3,700 people on board were infected. 13 people died.

At that time, testing and treatment systems for the new coronavirus had not yet been established, and the responsibility of the countries involved was unclear, resulting in passengers being isolated on board the ship for an extended period of time.

Passenger at the time: ``It's still not clear what happened''

On the 3rd, the three passengers at the time gathered at Daikoku Pier in Yokohama, where the cruise ship was anchored, and lit a candle, read out the anniversaries of each person's death, and held a silent prayer.

They then threw flowers into the sea to commemorate the deceased.

Yasuto Hirasawa from Osaka City, who participated, said, ``It's been four years, but it hurts when I stand here and think about the people who died. It's still not clear what happened at that time, so I haven't disclosed it to the government.'' I'd like you to do that," he said.
