Three students from the Applied Technology High School in Abu Dhabi created a smart fire extinguisher to automatically extinguish fires that may arise in fuel filling stations, preventing the fire from spreading inside the station in record time.

The students explained Saif Ali Al Hammadi, Zaid Al Harthy, and Marwan Al Shamsi, the method of the smart extinguisher, that it is installed on the car fueling device, and in the event of a fire in the vicinity of the device, the fuel filling process stops automatically, and the device begins to extinguish the fire directly, without human intervention, Adding that the material used for extinguishing is "foam" or "powder", not water.

They pointed out that they spent four months in the implementation of the smart extinguisher project, which consists of thermal sensors that convert the heat resulting from the presence of fire in the place to signals received by the fuel supply switches and they shut down automatically, and the safety keys associated with the extinguisher, so they start to extinguish the fire, in addition to that the extinguishing device contains On three lights.

The students said: «What distinguishes this innovation is that it does not require human intervention, in addition to that it extinguishes the extinguishing material only on the location of the fire, which limits the pollution resulting from the extinguishing material», adding that «the cost of the smart fire extinguisher does not exceed the cost of the regular extinguisher ».

Students participated in the Smart Fire Project in the National Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation that was organized by the Ministry of Education last month, and was highly admired by the participants.
