"The EU reaffirms its firm conviction that there is no military solution to the Libyan crisis", REUTERS / Thierry Roge

The European Union has timidly reacted to the authorization given Thursday by the Turkish Parliament to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of an army deployment in Libya to support the government of Tripoli.

In a statement of ten lines, the spokesman for the High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union expressed " his grave concern " after the green light given by the Turkish Parliament to a motion which allows President Erdogan to '' send advisers, air and land resources to Libya.

For the European Union, " there is no military solution to the crisis in Libya ". And " all actions to support those who are fighting in this conflict can only lead to further destabilization of the country and the region. "

The EU finally calls for respect for the arms embargo and for supporting the efforts of the United Nations envoy to Libya.

Europe which again asked, ten days ago, to put an end to any military escalation around Tripoli and to resume political dialogue.
