Palestinians inspect buildings destroyed by Israeli raids on Rafah (Anatolia)

Today, regional and international calls to stop the aggression against Rafah and prevent a ground invasion that Israel has threatened have escalated, raising grave concern around the world.

Last night, about 100 Palestinians were martyred and dozens were injured, most of them women and children, in violent Israeli bombing of homes and mosques in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) considered the attack a continuation of the genocidal war against the Palestinian people, and called for urgent international action to stop the aggression.

Türkiye expresses its concern

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep concern about the increasing Israeli attacks on the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement today, Monday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the Security Council to take the necessary steps to stop Israel’s attack on Gaza.

She added that these attacks are considered part of the plan to expel the Palestinian people from their land.

Rafah is the last refuge for the displaced in the stricken sector, and it includes more than 1,400,000 Palestinians, including 1,300,000 displaced people from other governorates.

US President Joe Biden will host King Abdullah II of Jordan in Washington on Monday, and the two leaders are expected to discuss growing concern about a possible Israeli military operation in the city of Rafah, as well as efforts to return detainees in Gaza.

Burrell: We have to do something other than worry

In Europe, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said that 1.7 million Palestinians in the city of Rafah have nowhere to go, and that pressure must continue on Israel to prevent it from attacking the city.

This came in a press conference held on Monday, prior to his participation in the informal meeting of development ministers of the European Union countries in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

Borrell explained that the meeting will address the latest developments related to the humanitarian crisis taking place in the Gaza Strip, which is exposed to a devastating Israeli war.

He added, "We must do something other than express our concern, and many people are saying that Israel's actions are disproportionate, and that the death toll has reached an unbearable level. Even US President Joe Biden said that yesterday."

The Director of the World Health Organization expresses his concern

In turn, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Monday renewed the call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and expressed his particular concern about the Israeli attacks on Rafah, where most of the Strip’s residents fled.

Ghebreyesus said that only 15 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza “are still operating partially or at minimum” capacity, and that aid workers are doing their best under unimaginable circumstances.

The United Nations said that more than 85% of Gaza's population has been displaced, and that the Strip is facing famine, with one in every 5 children under the age of five suffering from acute malnutrition.

Warning from Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders warned on Monday that Israel's potential ground attack on the city of Rafah, south of Gaza, would be disastrous, and must be stopped in the area, which is crowded with hundreds of thousands of displaced people who have taken refuge there to escape the violent bombardment in the rest of the Gaza Strip.

The organization's general director, Minnie Nicolay, said in a series of posts on the

"As aerial bombardment of the area continues, more than a million people, many of whom live in tents and makeshift shelters, now face a major escalation in this ongoing carnage," Nikolai warned.

Israel: The United Nations has two options

Israeli government spokesman Elon Levy urged UN agencies to evacuate civilians from places of fighting, and said that the United Nations has two options: to save Hamas or to save civilians.

He stressed that the war will continue until Hamas is eliminated and the hostages are released, and that it would be ridiculous if the war stopped now.

He said that the Palestinian President must commit to eliminating Hamas, not supporting it, and that Israel expects its allies to stand by it in the face of Hamas.

Rafah witnessed, at dawn on Monday, a bloody night in which dozens were killed and wounded as a result of violent Israeli raids and clashes between Palestinian resistance fighters and the Israeli army northwest of the city, which was crowded with displaced people, in clear Israeli disregard for international warnings.

Earlier Monday, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari narrated what he said were the details of the liberation of two prisoners at dawn on Monday, in a military operation in Rafah during which massacres were committed, according to Hamas.

The fierce attacks on Rafah on Monday night were met with Palestinian denunciation and denunciation, amid warnings that they would be used as a method of forcibly displacing Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip, especially with the Israeli announcement of its readiness to invade the city, which is crowded with hundreds of thousands of displaced people.

For 129 days, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving as of today, Monday, 28,340 martyrs and 67,984 injured, most of them children and women, in addition to thousands of people missing under the rubble, according to Palestinian and UN data, which led to Israel being put on trial for genocide crimes for the first time since.
