Head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, discussed with visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan bilateral relations and regional issues.

According to what was reported by the Libyan “Our Government” platform, during their meeting in Tripoli on Wednesday, the two sides discussed a number of political and economic files and aspects of cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Dabaiba expressed his appreciation for Turkey's role in supporting stability in Libya, supporting international efforts to hold elections, and ending the transitional phase.

In turn, Fidan conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Dabaiba and the Libyan people, and stressed the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.

He pointed out that his visit to Libya comes within the framework of unifying efforts between the two countries and discussing a number of files of common interest between the two countries, most notably the Israeli aggression against Gaza and supporting international efforts to hold elections in Libya.

They also discussed a number of files that were agreed upon during the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Dabaiba in Istanbul last Friday, most notably the return of Turkish Airlines flights to Tripoli, addressing residency problems for Libyans in Turkey, and canceling entry visas for citizens of the two countries.

They also touched on the issue of rebuilding Derna and neighboring municipalities affected by the flood disaster in eastern Libya, where Fidan renewed Turkey's readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of the affected areas.
