It was during 2011 and 2012 that Donald Trump tweeted on several occasions that then-President Barrack Obama was planning to start a war with Iran.
Trump believed the war would be a way for Obama to be elected president again, several US media reports.
Trump also went on to say after Obama's election again.
But when Trump tweeted a picture of the US flag on Friday after Iranian top general Qassem Soleimani was killed in a drone attack, many were quick to remind the president of his previous tweet.
The old posts went viral again and suddenly trended on Twitter.
