December 30, 2019 At the end of the year, Cinetel, a company that takes over about 95% of the box office of the entire market, presents the results of the cinema market in theaters in 2019, underlining its positive outcome.

According to the data collected, in Italy in 2019 cinemas recorded a total collection of over 630 million euros; for a number of presences equal to approximately 97 million tickets sold. Compared to 2018, this is an increase of more than 14% of collections and more than 13% of presences and, more generally, of the best result of the last three years.

As regards Italian productions, including co-productions, there is a collection of over 130 million euros, for a number of presences equal to more than 20 million admissions and a share of the total of approximately 21%. This is a figure, in terms of absolute value, which improves the 2018 result which in turn was almost 24% higher than 2017.

The three films that recorded the best box office takings are: "The Lion King" (37.5 million box office), "Avengers: Endgame" (30.2 million box office) and "Joker" (29.3 million box office).
