Of hope from cinema to prison.

Dylan Robert, winner of the César for Most Promising Actor in 2019 for his role in the film Shéhérazade, was sentenced this Friday to three years in prison.

After success, the young actor fell back into “a spiral” of delinquency: “I needed money” and “the Cannes festival is not paid”.

In 2019, a few months after his César for Most Promising Actor, Dylan Robert took part in a series of necklace snatchings in Marseille.

Torn between cinema and delinquency, the young man was sentenced Friday to three years in prison.

“Today, I'm almost wasted,” defends the young 24-year-old actor, with a well-trimmed three-day beard, a braid holding back his black hair, in the box of the Marseille criminal court.

.

His career was launched.

“I was experiencing extraordinary things on the one hand,” he explains.

But on the other hand, in his neighborhood of Marseille, he fell back into “a spiral” of delinquency.

“I needed money” and “the Cannes festival is not paid,” he explains, five years after the events, to the president of the court, recalling his climb to the steps in May 2018.

“He apologizes from the “deepest part of his heart”

Between April and July 2019, he committed a series of snatch thefts, the investigating judge retaining around fifteen.

With one of his neighborhood friends, now on the run, sentenced in his absence to five years in prison, they always proceeded the same way: approach on a scooter, tear off a piece of jewelry, with violence if necessary, and flee. .

Among the injured, a 59-year-old lady broke her femur for three stolen bracelets.

The loot was then resold at 25 euros per gram of precious metal.

The courts sometimes accuse him of several thefts per day.

He assures that all the thefts are not attributable to him.

He was also acquitted of four of them on Friday.

But for others, he apologizes from the “deepest part of his heart”.

In the end, he was sentenced to four years' imprisonment on Friday, including three years in prison and one year suspended for two years, with a committal warrant.

A sentence less than the five years in prison required by the prosecutor who quipped: "He does not remember the facts, because he has committed too many."

Already detained in Draguignan prison on remand, Dylan Robert is indicted for murder and attempted murder by an organized gang in the investigation into the murder of a teenager at a deal point in August 2021 in Marseille.

The young man will also be judged on October 25 in another case, a case of carjacking.
