  According to the specific arrangements announced by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China on the 2024/25 school year Diploma Examination admission plan, a total of 138 mainland higher education institutions will select the best Hong Kong students to take the 2024 Diploma Examination based on their results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE). The need for students to participate in the Mainland Joint Admissions Examination.

The Ministry of Education has entrusted the Office for the Joint Recruitment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students of General Universities of the People's Republic of China (Joint Admissions Office) to be responsible for online registration and review, and has entrusted the China Education Exchange (Hong Kong) Center (Exchange Center) to undertake the review of registration qualifications and enrollment promotion, etc. matters.

  Registration and related procedures for the HKDSE Admission Scheme are conducted online.

Applicants must log in to the Hong Kong Diploma Examination Admissions and Registration website of the Joint Admissions Office from March 1 to 31, select "Hong Kong Diploma Examination Admissions" in the "Registration" option column, fill in the application form and upload the following information: ( 1) Scanned copy of Hong Kong ID card; (2) Scanned copy of valid "Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents" or "Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents"; and (3) Digital ID photo.

  Applicants can log in to the registration system before April 10 to check the results of the registration qualification review.

If the applicant has provided supplementary information as required by the system, he or she can log in to the system before April 23 to view the latest review results.

All applicants who pass the registration qualification review must pay the fee and complete the registration confirmation process according to the system instructions before April 30. Applicants will then be issued a candidate number for identification.

  Applicants must complete the registration confirmation process within the registration period before entering the admission stage.

In addition, applicants can log in to the registration system from March 1 to June 14 to upload: "Student Learning Overview", and schools can also upload relevant information about the "Principal Recommendation Program" from May 15 to June 14. material.

  According to the admissions procedures for the 2024/25 academic year, each institution can arrange interviews/technical examinations based on candidates’ application materials. Applicants should pay attention to the institutions’ arrangements and notices.

The institution will announce the admission list after the HKDSE results are released, and will conduct online supplementary admissions (i.e. selection of remaining places) based on the enrollment situation.

  The Education Bureau of the SAR, in collaboration with the Exchange Center and the Hok Yau Society, have jointly published the "Guidelines for Mainland Higher Education Institutions to Recruit Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Students for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination" (Chinese only), which provides comprehensive information on the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Admissions Scheme and further study in the Mainland, including a list of all participating schemes Mainland university information, subject selection, subject selection strategies, and graduates’ sharing, etc.

The guide was distributed free of charge at the 2024/25 Mainland Higher Education Expo held in early December last year and mailed to all secondary schools in Hong Kong. The electronic version and other details have also been uploaded to the Education Bureau’s website.

  In addition, eligible Hong Kong students studying undergraduate degree programs at designated mainland institutions can apply for means-tested or non-means-tested subsidies under the Mainland University Articulation Subsidy Scheme.

Application details for the funding scheme for the 2024/25 academic year will be announced in the middle of this year.
